The Parc des Eaux-Vives will definitely host the ATP tournament until 2020. The organisers of the Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open tournament announced on Friday that they have extended the contract that binds them to their title sponsor (Bank Eric Sturdza) for three years.
"The satisfaction is huge for this third edition," said tournament director Thierry Grin before announcing the extension of the sponsorship contract. "The stands were full on Wednesday and Thursday, and almost full on Friday. We were incredibly lucky with the weather, but that does not explain everything. Much effort has gone into making the tournament well-known. We've seen a lot of young people, and done many special projects in schools this week," said the 1992 Davis Cup finalist.
"We don't have the figures yet, but attendance has gone up sharply from the previous two years," said Thierry Grin, equally pleased. "This tournament meets all my expectations, particularly on the sports scene, which for its part has slipped Eric Sturdza, owner of the eponymous bank. It is very important for the city and for tourism. Spectators are sure to come back, "he said with a big smile on his lips.
