It's already over..

21 May 2016

It feels a bit nostalgic writing these last lines, knowing that there's just a short afternoon remaining to enjoy this magnificent Bank Eric Sturdza Geneva Open 2016.

And yes, the finalists are now known, both for singles and doubles. This final day starts off with the doubles final, where no fewer than three players out of four are American! Indeed, yesterday afternoon, the pair made up of South African, Raven Klaasen, and the atypically player and Denver native, Rajeev Ram, who won 6-3, 6-4 in its semi-final against Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Santiago Gonzales. Later in the evening, the last few spectators present witnessed a very close encounter between Americans Sam Querrey and Steve Johnson and the pair comprising of Julian Knowle and Lukas Rosol. In the end it was the friendly Californians who dominated in the super tie-break: 6-3, 3-6, 10-8. The doubles final, which is not to be missed, will start at 13h. Be there!

As for the singles, it's a dream final to be played under the Genevan sun. Stan Wawrinka, highly anticipated after the disappointment of last year, will be carried by the audience to go and win his first title on Swiss soil. However, his opponent is not just anyone... Marin Cilic, winner of the US Open 2014, has just returned from injury, provides a dazzling game. The duel is likely to be tight, and the Vaudois is counting on you to support him 200% during this beautiful finale: do not be late, the final starts at 15h.
