The US Open reigning champion is already out. No.2 seed Marin Cilic (ATP #10) was eliminated by Santiago Giraldo (ATP #67) in Geneva Open quarter-finals.

Cilic was already troubled in the previous round against young Russian Andrey Rublev. The Croat held firm until 5-5, but then lost his service game and eventually lost control of the match.

"I am disappointed because I wanted to play more before the Roland Garros”, said the 26-year-old from Medjugorje. "However, I leave Geneva with confidence. I will not panic, and I hope I can raise the level of my game in Paris."

Santiago Giraldo can celebrate. The Colombian, who had previously won just two matches out of the six he played on clay before arriving in Geneva, will play his second semi-final of the year. He recorded the second win of his career against a Top 10 player.

In the semi-finals, Giraldo takes on Thomaz Bellucci who beat Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas in a fantastic match. The Brazilian sealed a 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 victory.
