Easy win for Nishikori

24 May 2017

Kei Nishikori took no time in devouring Kazakh Mikhail Kukushkin for his entry into the Bank Eric Sturdza Geneva Open tournament.

The attempt to restore confidence worked rather well for the Japanese Kei Nishikori. The No. 2 seed of the tournament easily won his match against his opponent of the day, Mikhail Kukushkin, in less than an hour and a half. Final result: 6-3 6-4.

The Japanese didn't know his next opponent until very late in the evening, as Kevin Anderson's match against young American, Jared Donaldson, went on later than 22h30... After a first set easily won by 6-3, South African Anderson didn't manage to take the advantage in the tie-break of the second set, yet he had twice the opportunity to win the match. Fortunately, the missed match balls in this second set tie-break were inconsequential, since he finally won the match 6-3 6-7 (7) 6-2 after more than 2:40 of hard work on the court!
